On Saturday, September 28, join us at the picturesque Arbor Lodge State Park for a day of trees, art, and community! The 71 sculptures created by professional artists and area youth for An Enchanted Arboretum will be up for auction.
The event will kick off at 2 p.m. with an auction of the 4’ student-designed trees. The bidding on these smaller sculptures will start at $250. Some find it sad, but is anticipated that some of these smaller sculptures will be headed for a life outside of Nebraska City to live with grandparents, local alumni, out-of-town businesses, and the like.
An Event Celebration with heavy hor d’eouvres and mingling will follow from 4:30 - 6 p.m. providing the perfect opportunity to enjoy all of the trees up close and personal! Tickets are only required to attend the Event Celebration and includes enjoyment of delicious offerings from the Nebraska City High School Culinary Arts Club and one complimentary cocktail. The auctions themselves are free to attend.
Tickets are $25 per person and may be purchased in advance or the day of event at the gate. Download a ticket order form and return it to Nebraska City City Hall
at 1409 Central Avenue or call 402-873-5515.
The auctioning of the 6’ trees will commence at 6 p.m. with minimum bids starting at $1200. Please note that those interested in purchasing a 6’ tree must be willing to have the piece on public display in Nebraska City after the auction, whether in one of the current public locations or on private property that is accessible to the public. All 6’ tree buyers will be recognized on plaques attached to the concrete base of each sculpture. Local businesses, organizations, neighborhood groups, and the like are encouraged to begin considering now which tree they would like to own. Download information about the auction to share with others!
Our goal is for these trees to be points of beauty and pride throughout our fine community that will attract tourists, encourage economic growth, and make Nebraska City an even greater place to live for years to come.
